A Cabin By The Pond is a rustic wilderness retreat one mile from downtown Soldotna, Alaska. It rents seven authentic Alaska cabins close to the Kenai River and hosts independent travelers, family reunions, weddings, and corporate gatherings.
Fishing is the main draw: spin fishing and fly fishing for wild Alaska salmon, rainbow trout, dolly varden, halibut, lingcod, and yelloweye rockfish. Local activities also include hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing, and the 1.92 million acre Kenai National Wildlife Refuge sits right outside the door. We designed and built the retreat's WordPress site, integrated its booking platform, and handled SEO.
The challenge
A Cabin By The Pond wanted a website that reflected the charm of the property and gave visitors a taste of the Alaska wilderness experience around it, one that showed the quality, the service, and the uniqueness of the cabins.
Booking was the other constraint. The retreat already used a booking system, and that system was limited, so the work had to build on the platform they were on. The retreat also partners with similar businesses in the area, and the site had to carry the linking that comes with those relationships.
What we did
We designed and developed a custom WordPress site for the retreat, built around its cabins and its rates.

- Booking tracking, with guests handed off to the booking website
- Back linking to and from the websites of their local partner businesses
The site still runs on WordPress and carries a Hype Digital Marketing credit in the footer. Our scope on the project was web design, web development, and SEO.
